November 2008 - National Stress Awareness Day

'National Stress Awareness Day (NSAD) is organised by the International Stress Management Association (ISMA) a charity whose aim is to advance the education of the public in the field of biological stress'.

NSAD , celebrated each year on the first Wednesday of November, is a now a fixture in the calendar. Organisations choose different ways to mark the day but the key issue is always the same: to raise awareness of stress and how dangerous it can be, and the affects it can have on our health, prosperity and wellbeing. People are affected by external pressures over which they believe they have very little control but ISMA encourages us all to recognize that we are also affected by internal pressures through habitual thinking patterns which we can change.

To celebrate NSAD 2008, Open Mind organised and ran a free workshop ‘Managing Workplace Stress’ which was attended by over 40 delegates comprising mainly small businesses in North London.
