Access to Work
Access to Work is a government scheme operated through local job centres. It provides practical advice and support to disabled people and their employers to help overcome work related obstacles. It can pay a grant towards certain extra employment costs resulting from disability, such as fares to work if transport is difficult; a communicator at a job interview for someone with a hearing impairment; a support worker, such as a reader if someone has a visual impairment; specialist equipment, such as voice activated software; adaptations to premises, such as installing an accessible toilet.

The Employers Forum on Disability
The Employers' Forum on Disability is the world's leading employers' organisation focused on disability as it affects business. Funded and managed by nearly 400 members, it aims to make it easier to recruit and retain disabled employees and to serve disabled customers.

Radar
RADAR is a national network of disability organisations and disabled people. It represents its members by fast-tracking opinions and concerns to policy-makers and legislators in Westminster and Whitehall, and launching its own campaigns to promote equality for all disabled people.
Formed in 1977 as the Royal Association for Disability and Rehabilitation, RADAR is a national organisation run by and working for disabled people. It has a membership of about 600 disability organisations and individuals.

Workplace Health Connect
Workplace Health Connect is a free no obligation service set up in partnership with the Health and Safety Executive. It provides free, practical advice on workplace health and safety, working with both managers and staff of Small And Medium Enterprises. Its aim is to transfer knowledge and skills direct to companies, so they can tackle future issues themselves.

Depression Alliance
The depression Alliance is the leading UK charity for people affected by depression. It works to relieve and to prevent this treatable condition by providing information and support services. It also campaigns to raise awareness amongst the general public about the realities of depression.

The British Council of Disabled People
The British Council of Disabled People (BCODP) was set up by disabled people in 1981 to promote full equality and participation within society. It is an umbrella organisation that represents some 80 organisations run and controlled by disabled people.

The DRC Disability rights commission (DRC)
The Disability Rights Commission was set up in April 2000 and its remit is to work towards the elimination of discrimination against disabled people and equalise their opportunities.

The disability debate
The DRC launched the Disability Debate in June 2005 to help develop a new forward-looking public policy agenda aimed at achieving the DRC's vision of a 'society in which all disabled people can participate fully as equal citizens'. The final Disability Agenda will be published early in 2007, but you can read a lot of the ideas and proposals now.
