Open Mind Consultancy

Open Mind seeks to achieve a positive shift in attitudes towards the recruitment and retention of people with mental health problems or physical disabilities.

Statistics vary but it is generally accepted that around a quarter of us will, at some point in our lives, be living with a mental or physical disability and that 1 in 4 people at work will experience some form of mental distress over the course of a year.

For a long time it has been very difficult for people to break out of the circle of disadvantage whereby disability brings a lack of opportunity, leading to low expectations, low status and unchallenging low paid work - or no work at all. Thankfully, things are changing and we now see higher level investment in supporting people from all backgrounds and with all disabilities to enter properly paid employment.

Open Mind is pleased to be involved in a number of exciting initiatives designed to achieve this objective.
